Position Purpose:
The Staff Tax Accountant, a part of the sales/use tax team, will be responsible for supporting sales/use tax systems (product taxability, tax rates), sales/use/GST/PST/QST tax audits, tax exempt customer databases, research, and new business initiatives.
This position is responsible for product and services taxability process and related automation initiatives. This includes participating in the weekly SKU Mapping, periodic Installation services tax flag research. It requires familiarity with the working knowledge of taxability matrices as well as comfortable with working with large data set. Prior sales tax experience is a plus, but not required. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Senior Tax Accountants to ensure completion of day-to-day Tax System’s function and tax operations in the Corporate Tax Department. This position requires the ability to work in a team environment and adherence to deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
90% Tax Planning, Accounting, Research, Compliance, and Audit Defense as needed to meet the goals of the Department. May participate in one or more projects with governmental officials, outside counsel, and business partners. May participate in special studies to determine tax implications of company operations. May be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely filing of tax returns, and for the accurate statement of accounting reserves, including FAS 109 and FIN 48 where applicable. May serve as liaison between SSC and subsidiary businesses in the US and internationally.
10% Participation in cross-functional teams.

No associates report to this role on a permanent basis, but requires the technical leadership of a project work team: may select team members and assess capabilities, provide technical training, provide information necessary to meet work, project or program objectives, evaluate program or project performance.
Travel Requirements:
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Working Conditions:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or professional certification preferred.
1-3 years experience preferred.
Experience in tax compliance, audit, research, and accounting.
Demonstrate technical tax skills appropriate for the years of experience in the one or more tax disciplines. Demonstrate interpersonal skills and ability to coordinate multiple projects.
