Position Purpose:
This role will have ownership of the end-to-end Home Depot Exemption Certificate Management (ECM) strategy. We have made significant investment into our ECM application and to realize the expected value, we need a gatekeeper for this important audit risk area. The person in this role will have the following responsibilities aimed at achieving our strategic goal: 1. Have primary responsibility for managing nearshore team. 2. Maintain the business rule and ensure accuracy and currency of the requirements. 3. Perform quality control of the review process by offshore team. 4. Be the gatekeeper of the Tax-exempt policy and ensure all systemic design adhere to the policy. 5. Be the POC for the engineer, UX and product team on day-to-day management of the development effort. 6. Assume the ownership of the Tax-Exempt database cleanup effort. 7. Be the primary contact for our Asset protection team managing misuse of tax IDs. 8. Responsible to maintaining the agreement with Taxing authorities where we have data exchange deal. 9. Take ownership of maintaining the Tax-Exempt SOPs at the stores 10. Perform audit of the non-systemic exemptions policies and procedures. 11. Ownership of all store communications and Tax alerts that is related to Tax exemption. 12. Responsible for process improvement and any automation initiatives 13. Provide support for Audit on Tax exempt related issues. 14. Assume ownerships of Tax-exempt related customer-facing inquiries (calls and emails) escalated from the offshore teams. 15. Managing vendor-facing resale and exemption certificates for HDUSA, HDPA, Proco and any subsidiaries including the supplier hub document updates
Key Responsibilities:
80% Tax Planning, Accounting, Research, Compliance, and Audit Defense as needed to meet the goals of the Department. May serve as principal contact on one or more projects with governmental officials, outside counsel, and business partners. May lead or participate in special studies to determine tax implications of company operations. May be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely filing of tax returns, and for the accurate statement of accounting reserves, including FAS 109 and FIN 48 where applicable. May serve as liaison between SSC and subsidiary businesses in the US and internationally.

No associates report to this role on a permanent basis, but requires the leadership of a work group: assign and review work, train and contribute to performance appraisal (but not hiring, firing or disciplinary action).

Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Minimum Qualifications:
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
CPA, CMI, or JD Preferred
MACc, MBA or MTAX Preferred
3-5 years Experience Preferred
Experience in tax compliance, audit, research, and accounting.
Demonstrate technical tax skills appropriate for the years of experience in the one or more tax disciplines. Demonstrate leadership and interpersonal skills, including the ability to manage and implement multiple complex projects, people management, and communications to both technical and non-technical audiences. Proven analytical and problem resolution skills.
Minimum Education:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
