As an Associate Engineering Director, you will own, build, and develop a software engineering organization responsible for delivering new products and supporting our existing products. You will lead recruitment and staff development activities and will be responsible for setting the engineering direction for multiple teams within your area. You will be responsible for developing your staff, both individual contributors and managers. You will pair with peers in product and customer success to ensure that the organization delivers world-class products for our customers and continually raise the bar on all aspects of the software development lifecycle.
This role is remote eligible, which means you would work virtually from home or another non-Best Buy Health location. This role will work Eastern time zone hours.
What you’ll do:
Partner closely with Product and help drive the product strategy, ensuring alignment between product leadership and engineering teams and balancing prioritisation between new product development and technical excellence.
Define the technical strategy and direction for engineering, directing teams to adopt best practices and creating strong engineering foundations that will scale.
Build an engineering culture that is customer-focused, agile, diverse and inclusive; your teams will be empowered and highly productive.
Define the organisational structure for engineering, hire, retain and grow engineers & managers, and provide direction and support for your distributed engineering teams.
Developing and growing new leaders, individuals who excel at leading engineering teams.
Leading by example, demonstrating great behaviours, encouraging this in others, addressing incorrect behaviours, enabling your teams to work autonomously, and building a positive vibe and culture, with customer focus as our top priority.
Basic qualifications:
6 years of relevant professional experience
2 years experience managing and leading engineering teams
Preferred qualifications:
Significant experience building and leading high performance engineering teams
Extensive experience managing engineering managers and fostering strong leadership principles.
You have strong business and technical communication skills (verbal and written)
Continuously looking at processes and making improvements to ensure teams can deliver positive outcomes.
Being a team player, ready to help, debate, compromise and work together to achieve a solution that best suits the business needs
Mentoring and guiding a team’s project through planning, delivery, and support.
Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and have experience working with functions outside of engineering.
Experience in the healthcare industry
