Manages the processes and procedures pertaining to all equipment; specifications/engineering, warranty, tires, breakdown analyses, accident/incident investigation, sustainability initiatives and other projects.
Essential Functions
• Management responsibilities include, but are not limited to: hiring, terminations, coaching, skills development, recognition and rewards, performance management and staff productivity. • Plans, organizes, staffs, directs and controls the day-to-day operations of the department; develops and implements policies and programs as necessary. • Develops and manages the department budget; ensures compliance and addresses variances and other budget concerns. • Manages maintenance cost to goal and trains field management personnel in areas of cost control. • Analyzes maintenance cost data, monitors preventative maintenance and warranty compliance with staff and garage vendor network to affect change in specifications and maintenance processes. • Manages the design and development of equipment specifications which would entail working with equipment manufacturers and suppliers to mitigate risk and the costs associated with premature component failure. • Collaborates with trailer manufacturers to develop and improve specifications, warranty levels and institute changes when needed. Incorporates electronic technology to improve service frequencies. • Manages the equipment warranty program including all aspects of warranty claims and collection, as well as timely completion of all equipment campaigns. • Tracks and monitors supplier quality with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and garage vendors to achieve improvements. • Manages department sustainability initiatives. • Manages the tracking, trending, and investigation and follow up of accidents/incidents as they relate to maintenance. • Delivers presentations and training to diverse workgroups to educate on maintenance-related issues and new or updated processes and procedures. • Monitors and analyzes all FedEx Ground (FXG) equipment breakdowns, safety components, and vehicle maintenance Compliance Safety Accountability (CSA) scores. • Manages procurement process, inventories, and research and development of FXG tire bank inventories and network. • Manages Vehicle Management System (VMS) system enhancements and Information Technology integration. • Monitors garage vendor contracts, negotiations, and quality processes.
Minimum Education
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics or related field required; in addition to Minimum Experience, high school diploma or GED and four (4) years experience in Maintenance, Logistics, or related area is accepted in lieu of degree.
Minimum Experience
Five (5) years experience required in maintenance, fleet management, or related field; Two (2) of those years required in management.
Required Skills, Abilities and / or Licensure
• Working knowledge of state and federal regulations. • Working knowledge of vehicle maintenance equipment and terminology. • Software skills, including use of Microsoft Office software and web • Strong interpersonal communication skills. • Time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills necessary to work in a fast-paced environment, handling various tasks and changing priorities, while maintaining a high attention to detail and accuracy to achieve goals. • Ability to anticipate and identify problems and use sound judgment and fact-based analysis to develop effective and efficient solutions. • Ability to mentor, coach and act as a knowledge resource to other employees. • Ability to develop effective methods for tracking and monitoring data or information. • Ability to drive results utilizing quality analysis, resources, and tools.

This is a corporate position that is domiciled in Pittsburgh, PA. Remote locations will be considered with appropriate approvals. Pay Range: $112,944/year - $170,352/year Salary information represents the full potential base pay range associated with this job. Actual starting pay would be determined commensurate with experience and relative to pay levels at the location. An employee may also be eligible for additional pay programs, such as geographic and/or incentive pay. These programs do not apply to all jobs or all locations.
